The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Marwan Al-Halabi, received a Lebanese religious delegation led by Sheikh Dr. Osama Al-Rifai, the former Mufti of Akkar. The meeting addressed a number of educational and religious issues of mutual interest. During the discussions, both parties focused on supporting Syrian students studying in Lebanon and ensuring a suitable educational environment for them. They also emphasized strengthening religious education by establishing precise standards to regulate the operations of religious institutes and ensure the quality of their educational outcomes. Furthermore, the two sides discussed the potential for educational coordination between Syria and Lebanon to help advance the educational process and facilitate the exchange of academic and religious expertise.
Minister Al-Halabi emphasized the importance of this cooperation in serving students and fostering academic and religious integration, stressing that the current phase requires joint efforts to develop religious education and ensure its alignment with modern academic standards. For its part, the Lebanese delegation expressed the readiness of religious institutions in Lebanon to cooperate closely with the Ministry of Higher Education to achieve shared goals and strengthen ties between the two countries. The meeting was attended by the Assistant Minister for Private Education Affairs, Dr. Muhammad Al-Suwaid.
