Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research
The higher education system in the Syrian Arab Republic continues to play a pivotal role in developing human capital and strengthening the foundations of comprehensive development. It is guided by an ambitious national vision for the post-liberation era, centered on the reconstruction of knowledge and science, and on bolstering national sovereignty in the fields of education and scientific research.
The Ministry has placed great emphasis on expanding access to higher education for all those who wish to pursue it, and to graduating qualified and distinguished scientific personnel capable of actively contributing to the rebuilding of the nation and meeting the demands of the local, regional, and international labor markets.

As part of its efforts to bring about a qualitative transformation in the quality of education and its outcomes, the Ministry has worked to develop the infrastructure of universities and institutes, update curricula and academic programs in line with advancements in science and technology, and introduce new specializations that meet the needs of the recovery and reconstruction phase. It has also strengthened quality assurance and academic accreditation systems, activated the role of the National Commission for Quality Assurance and Accreditation, and expanded self-assessment programs in public and private universities.
